REVIEWER: Ashlee Stormborn

This new launch of “Josie and the Pussycats” is a rock and roll journey of friendship and adventure that’s worth the read. It’s pretty fast paced and will leave you wanting more. It’s what would have made a cool movie if it was made back during the MTV time frame instead of the cool but kind of random movie we got. This has plot, backstory and a good look at how the characters relate to one another. On top of that they throw in the standard ,let’s get famous story line and add a bit of cool adventure for the ladies to get into.

It starts off with the band not being a band, but Josie still trying to live the musician dream solo, while rooming with Melody who is juggling life including classes, pets, volunteering and cute guys. And Val is being a veterinarian extraordinaire who comes in a few pages later. The ladies are musical but not musical together but you know that’s not gonna last long, like how can they not be a band together and rock out? Even with sabotage and normal friend misunderstandings the ladies get their act together and rock out for a cause and make a mark that leads them onto their next adventure of stardom and of course the entrance of Allen M.

Plot wise it’s a good story, it’s fantastical if only in a whirlwind rock star drama can be which if you’re reading this comic, you should know what’s up! This series delivers on the music and hijinks but still has a touch of reality. Outside of plot the artwork is a nice nod to the old Archie comics look but a bit more vibrant with its lines and colors. It’s appealing and fresh and fan or not it’ll grab your attention and pull you in when you catch a glimpse and the story will keep you flipping through the pages.
